Austin Places

Yesterday it was 100+ degrees but I really wanted to draw outside. I guess I miss New Hampshire and I know my lazy days of summer vacation are coming to a sad end. So I sat in the covered roof-top cafe at Central Market and looked down at the deck and playground area. The playground is a bearable place for kids to play outside this time of year because of the huge beautiful Live Oaks shading it. The other drawing is the inside of a coffee shop called Ruta Maya. I actually sketched it back in March during an open-mike event that Peter played at, but just recently added color.

Brookline and Arlington

After our fabulous
stay in New Hampshire, we went to urban Boston for a couple of days. I had a couple of opportunities to sketch: the plants in my sister-in-law's massage studio while she entertained Eamonn, and a house in Arlington. We had been walking around all day and ended up walking a mile or two on the Minuteman Trail and I was so tired that as soon as we got to our favorite park in Arlington I sat down and started drawing a house across the street. Eamonn found a tall tree stump to climb into and enjoy himself.

On Island Pond

I just got back from a wonderful trip to New Hampshire and to Boston. In New Hampshire we stayed at a house on Island Pond, which is really a lake with islands in it. It was so beautiful and so relaxing that I did a bunch of sketches. It was a great opportunity to practice some landscapes.
